This year, I’m totally watching the Olympics. In years past, I couldn’t of cared less. Maybe it’s the hype around the games being Beijing…maybe the hype around Michael Phelps…or maybe because I was on bed rest the last few days and that was the only thing worth watching on TV. In either case, I’m addicted. I love watching the games. The only game I thought was ridiculous was the Race Walking. We were joking around with that one…”what do you do in the Olympics?” “I walk!” or “I won the gold in WALKING!”
I shouldn’t make too much fun. I mean, these people are at least doing something, right? I’m just sitting at my desk during my lunch hour typing a little note to the Internet. Shoot, I can’t even walk around my campus right now.
I’d have to say my favorite events are the diving ones. I totally dig them. I also like the dashes (400m, 100m, etc).
I wonder if I’m not alone with my feelings on this year’s Olympics. It seems that, at least for the Winter Olympics, I don’t remember this much hype around them. I don’t even remember my friends being this into it. But last night, one of my friends who doesn’t have cable (got to love the fact you can watch almost anything online these days), came over to watch some. David (my hubby), could take them or leave them. But me, I’m fascinated. Maybe it’s because I can’t exercise right now. And when you can’t do something, you want to do it more than ever. After my baby is born, I can’t WAIT to take up running again. I was up to a whole mile before I was out on knee surgery. And then I got pregnant a month later. (Yes, I know a mile isn’t much to brag about. In fact, I probably can’t even call myself a runner. But it was fun, it was easy to get started – right outside your front door…and I could very easily find time to do it. I had just taken up running as a more frequent activity when I had to have surgery). So I dress my son up, put him in the jogger stroller and off we’ll go – me too get some activity and loose the baby weight and him to get some fresh air.
peace and love.

It’s all about the human dolphin (michael phelps) this year! He’s making history and we’re able to see it!
The olympics makes me look at my own mediocrity and want to work towards something better. I say, once the child is born, we continue to do what we started in the Riv, once a week take a walk with the dogs and children in tow…what do you think?

I like that idea! On cooler days we can walk around your area. On the hot days we can walk around my area.
